From our Shanghai flat, located on the 10th floor, I saw the roofs of Chinese houses below.

Because of the lack of space in their flats, many activities of the Chinese take place on the roof.

Every day I saw a young Chinese who practiced the trumpet on the roof.

When he started to play, I started to paint …

Peace of mind and delight with each movement of the hand. This is what I learned in China where my inspiration and my love for painting has begun.

In 2021-22 I created the cycle One Print – One Impression.

I developed diverse shades of colours in a single movement. The ink roller moves fast … or slowly and tenderly.

When working in this way, one cannot correct anything.

The technique resembles Asian art, or Asian martial arts. A controlled movement evokes transparency and beauty.
